Today we were blessed with perfect weather, the temperatures were in the low 80s with a light breeze and almost cloudless blue sky. We spent the morning walking around the yard and reading the Sunday paper. Early afternoon was spent paddling Lake Morey in Vermont with our friend Lisa. This was the first time that we kayaked this lake, so as we were paddling Lisa shared a bit of history about the lake, the resort on one end of the shore, Camp Aloha at the other end of the shore and tidbits about some of the house in between. We were also entertained with story about the winter ice skating available on the lake as well as some of the other events that take place in the fall in winter months in the area. It is hard to believe that this little gem is only about 30 minutes from our house and we have never really explored it before.
After paddling around the entire lake we went back to Lisa’s house to enjoy a wonderful evening of good food and conversation with her and her family. She served a tasty tofu in spicy peanut sauce over brown rice for dinner and we had a gluten-free pear cake for desert. Good friends and days like this are things to treasure.
